Early in the morning of September 11 (2001), 19 hijackers took control of four commercial airliners, all of them en route to California State, specifically to San Francisco or Los Angeles after takeoffs from Boston, Massachusetts, Newark, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. The hijackers selected wide–body planes with long flights intentionally because they would be heavily fueled. The targets were The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York, The Pentagon in Virginia and The Capitol in Washington D.C (this one could not be attacked because of a passenger revolt that ended in the plane being crashed intentionally by its hijackers into the ground in Pennsylvania).
